Merge-purge is the process of combining and filtering multiple mailing list files into one correctly formatted list they can then be prepared for mailing. During the process, any duplicates (records that exist in both files) can be either eliminated or suppressed (hidden).
Merge / Purge Example: Let’s say you are ready to send a catalog or brochure to your internal prospects list and an outside prospect list. The catalog or brochure has an offer only for potential new customers. You do not want this to go to current customers. The merge-purge process is crucial in making sure it only goes to prospects. Corporate Business Solutions would take the two prospect lists and merge them together and then use your customer list to match and purge (remove) any prospect that matched the customer list. The next process is to eliminate any duplicate records. Streamlining duplicate records and multiple lists is the easiest way to minimize marketing costs and maximize returns. Eliminating duplicates and dropping unlikely/undesirable prospects reduces production and postage costs, and potential losses.
We can suppress records based on data you supply, such as customers who have already received a similar mailing or customers that haven't paid for past orders. Duplicate Removal: At Corporate Business Solutions, we encourage our customer’s to send their mailing list through our software program designed to detect and eliminate duplicate records. This process can save you a substantial amount of money by preventing the mailing of two (or more) mail pieces to the same recipient. Key Benefit: Minimize marketing costs and maximize returns. |
